Kick off summer with the Long Island FunFest

Rides, fireworks and live entertainment are merely some of the attractions featured at the outdoor, 11-day spectacle – Long Island FunFest. An annual event, it returns to Suffolk County Community College’s Brentwood Campus, from June 15-25.

New to the agenda this year is the Kidbuck$ Game $how, where randomly-selected members of the audience can participate in a variety of wacky games for a chance to enter the Kidbuck$ Chamber and grab as many “kidbucks” as possible. Attendees of all ages can also enjoy the World of Wonders Oddity Show and the Records and Burpee Petting Zoo.

Among the two dozen rides featured here, there will be thrilling options, like the Dream Wheel and the Zipper, as well as calmer ones, like the Merry-Go-Round. Find plenty of those ever-popular carnival games to play, too.

Each day of the FunFest, live concerts are presented on the Long Island McDonald’s Stage. The lineup includes rising country music duo Presley & Taylor, on Friday night, at 7 and 9 p.m.; and Penny Lane, a Beatles tribute band, on Saturday, at 7 p.m. A full schedule is on the website.

Just know that while you are having FUN at the FunFest, you are also helping others, as a portion of the fest’s proceeds are being donated to NephCure Kidney International.
