Nearly 400 artists enter the Clothesline Art Sale each year, an East End tradition at Guild Hall in East Hampton since 1946. A Mecca for art enthusiasts that flock here annually, it has become known as the place “where art is affordable.” And, it’s back this Saturday, Aug. 5.
The fun of it all is in the presentation, with artwork hung along fences outdoors and also inside Guild Hall itself. You can browse, and buy, artwork that encompasses oil, acrylic, watercolor, prints, small sculpture, photographs and collages. Original prints, like etching and lithographs, are also among the pieces being showcased here.
All proceeds from the artwork are split 50/50 between the artist and Guild Hall, with proceeds benefiting Guild Hall.
So, take a trip to the Hamptons and be sure to pop by this sale, as I’m sure there’s a hidden, locally-made gem that might be coming home with you.
